Description

The City of Raleigh is soliciting sealed bids from a single-prime contractor for renovation and addition work at the John P. "Top" Greene African American Cultural Center. The project includes renovation of the existing community center, construction of a new 3,490-square-foot detached building, and new community room, exhibit, and back-of-house spaces. Sitework includes exterior exhibits, stormwater and landscape improvements, pathways and circulation improvements, grading, utilities, sanitary and water services, mechanical-system removal and replacement, electrical service, branch circuits, lighting, data, split-system DX equipment, coordination for owner-provided public-art elements, and infrastructure for a future trailhead kiosk. Three alternates address plantings and a pedestrian path, parking-lot asphalt resurfacing, and sidewalk replacement. The contract provides 455 consecutive calendar days from the Notice to Proceed through substantial completion, with final completion within 485 days; liquidated damages are $1,000 per calendar day. Or-equal submittals are required within 10 days of the advertisement date in accordance with the Instructions to Bidders.
