Description
Westmoreland County is requesting proposals for autopsy, forensic autopsy, and pathology services for its Coroner's Office. Services must be performed onsite at the Westmoreland County Forensic Center and include complete medical-legal autopsies, gross and microscopic diagnoses, typed postmortem reports, ancillary laboratory coordination, amended causes of death when appropriate, and court or Coroner's inquest testimony when requested. The selected provider must supply qualified, licensed, board-certified forensic pathologists, technicians, instruments, personal protective equipment, transportation, and biohazard-waste removal. Autopsies generally must be performed within 24–32 hours of notification, with final reports due within 30 days after receipt of all required results and information. The proposal must address experience, references, litigation and licensing history, physician credentials and curricula vitae, pricing, insurance coverage, and compliance with applicable laws and professional standards. The initial contract term is one year, with two additional one-year extension terms available to the County.
