Description
Kings County Behavioral Health is soliciting proposals for a Medical Director to provide system-level medical and clinical oversight for its Mental Health Plan and Drug Medi-Cal Organized Delivery System. Responsibilities include directing medication services; supervising and coordinating with psychiatrists, prescribers, and medication-support teams; reviewing medical necessity, treatment, and charts; developing policies and procedures; supporting utilization and quality reviews; consulting on complex cases and levels of care; coordinating with hospitals, jails, pharmacies, FQHCs, and other providers; and participating in audits and committees. The engagement is structured as a hybrid service, with up to 20 hours per week generally expected and the possibility of up to 40 hours per week, subject to an annual maximum of 2,080 hours. On-site work is expected at County behavioral health offices, with remaining work permitted remotely under HIPAA and HITECH security requirements. The stated rate is $300 per hour. The anticipated initial term is two years, from July 1, 2027, through June 30, 2029, with an option for up to two additional years by mutual consent. The Medical Director must maintain appropriate licensure, Medi-Cal and Medicare enrollment, DMC certification, addiction-medicine continuing education, ASAM training or certification, and specified insurance coverage.
