Description
The City of Los Angeles, through the Los Angeles Fire Department's Emergency Medical Services Bureau, is seeking a qualified physician to serve as Medical Director for its emergency medical services program. The Medical Director will oversee EMS delivery, develop and update policies and protocols, evaluate paramedic and EMT compliance, conduct research and quality-improvement activities, analyze patient-care data, provide medical direction for advanced practitioners and emergency medical dispatch, oversee controlled-drug processes, and advise department leadership on EMS planning, operations, training, clinical care, and regulatory compliance. Minimum qualifications include an MD or DO, completion of an accredited emergency medicine residency, continuing American Board of Emergency Medicine certification in emergency medicine and its EMS subspecialty, active emergency-medicine practice, and at least five years of EMS provider-agency leadership experience. The physician must also hold unrestricted California medical and Drug Enforcement Administration licenses and a valid California driver's license. Proposals must include a cover letter, work plan, experience and references, personnel qualifications, fee schedule, and required compliance forms and affidavits. The contract is intended to run for one year with two one-year extension options.
