Description
The University of Wisconsin-Madison is soliciting asbestos abatement services for the fourth-floor Biology Rise Lab renovation. The scope includes removal and proper disposal of asbestos-containing fume hood lining and associated casework, laboratory tabletops, chalkboards and adhesives, floor tile and mastic, acoustical surfacing material and overspray, mechanical duct insulation, and asbestos-containing pipe insulation and fittings. The abatement contractor will coordinate with the general prime contractor and other trades, field-verify conditions, establish regulated workspaces and containments using 6-mil flame-retardant polyethylene, operate HEPA-filtered negative-air machines, and maintain sole occupancy of each regulated workspace during abatement. The abatement contractor will serve as a subcontractor to the general prime contractor, with its costs included in the prime contractor’s bid. The addendum revised the abatement areas shown on the Level 04 abatement plan.
