Description
East Grand Rapids Public Schools is soliciting proposals for asbestos abatement associated with renovations at East Grand Rapids High School. The work includes removal and disposal of identified asbestos-containing materials, including vinyl floor tile, pipe-fitting and straight-pipe insulation, roof-drain insulation, transite pipe and board, sink undercoating, light-fixture insulation, fire-rated doors, and burgundy fire curtains. The contractor must also address additional asbestos-containing materials encountered during renovation or selective demolition as specified in the project documents. The contractor must provide all labor, supervision, equipment, containment, negative-air systems, decontamination facilities, worker protection, wet-removal procedures, packaging, transportation, and disposal at an approved landfill. Requirements include a current Michigan asbestos-abatement contractor license, accredited and trained personnel, medical and respirator documentation, regulatory notifications, a detailed work plan, a dedicated on-site supervisor, air-monitoring coordination, and compliance with applicable federal, state, and local requirements. The base bid includes three mobilizations, with work scheduled in two principal mobilization periods beginning April 4, 2027, and June 29, 2028.
