Description
Harnett County Animal Services is seeking one qualified contractor to serve as veterinarian of record for its animal shelter. Required services include developing and updating the shelter's Program of Veterinary Care and Veterinary Standing Orders; authorizing designated, trained shelter staff to obtain, possess, and administer controlled substances, veterinary medications, and related pharmaceuticals; and providing protocols for veterinary consultations and examinations. Optional services include infectious-disease mitigation protocols and shelter visits to observe facility and animal conditions. The contractor must be a North Carolina-licensed veterinarian and demonstrate professional qualifications, cost-effectiveness, and an understanding of animal-shelter standards of care. The selected contractor must maintain specified commercial general liability, automobile liability, workers' compensation, and professional liability insurance. A statement from the respondent's insurance broker confirming the ability to provide the required coverage must accompany the proposal. The agreement is intended to cover two fiscal years, with options for two additional two-year fiscal terms.
