El Dorado County is establishing a qualified list of providers to perform as-needed cremation services for the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office. The scope includes accepting remains transferred by the Sheriff's Office; secure, respectful handling and identification from intake through final disposition; prompt cremation; appropriate storage; cremains return or retention as directed; coordination if a responsible party emerges; and compliance with applicable California laws. Providers must maintain and furnish required records and documentation, including receipt and chain-of-custody records, cremation authorizations and permits, final disposition certificates, death certificates, and documentation of next-of-kin searches. Respondents must provide an active California Funeral Establishment and/or Crematory license, describe their processes, capacity, equipment, and turnaround time, submit at least three related references, and provide a fee schedule covering standard, after-hours, weekend, holiday, and emergency services. The qualified list may remain valid for up to three years, with no guaranteed volume or award.
