Description
The University of California, Berkeley is soliciting sealed lump-sum bids for the NAF Domestic Hot Water Heat Exchanger Replacement project, Project No. 19012A. The base scope includes installation of a new heat exchanger and associated piping, a new domestic hot water mixing-valve station, decommissioning of an existing heat exchanger in place, partial demolition of related low-pressure steam, heat-exchanger, cold-water, and condensate-return piping, and installation of a domestic hot water return loop. A bid alternate covers routing the return piping loop from the basement instead of connecting within the mechanical room. The work is a public project subject to prevailing-wage, nondiscrimination, labor-registration, and UC Fair Wage requirements. Bidders must hold an active California B General Contractor license at bid submission and submit a Contractor's Special Statement of Experience documenting three to five comparable steam-to-water heat-exchanger projects, each valued at $200,000 or more, completed within the past five years in the specified nine-county Bay Area region, along with required project and owner-reference information. A mandatory pre-bid conference and site tour is required for prime contractors. The estimated construction cost is $200,000.
