Description
The City of Berkeley is soliciting proposals for wheelchair-accessible transportation services for eligible older adults and adults with disabilities. The contractor must provide curb-to-curb, door-to-door, and, when necessary, door-through-door transportation; operate accessible vehicles capable of accommodating two wheelchair passengers; provide live dispatching and same-day and advance ride scheduling; collect fares and apply City subsidies; and support emergency transportation needs when requested. Services must be provided primarily within Alameda County during specified weekday and weekend hours. The contractor must supply qualified and trained drivers, accessible vehicles and replacement vehicles as needed, vehicle inspections and preventive maintenance, wheelchair securement and passenger restraint systems, drug and alcohol testing, trip-data reporting, accident and complaint reporting, and compliance with applicable accessibility, safety, licensing, and vehicle regulations. Proposals must include a service approach, contractor identification, at least three public-sector client references, a separate detailed pricing proposal, and the required City disclosure and compliance forms.
