Description
The University of Utah is soliciting a prime contractor under its Value Based Selection process for a comprehensive HVAC upgrade at the Marriott Center for Dance. The work includes removing and replacing medium- and low-pressure ductwork and hydronic piping; installing new VAV boxes with hydronic reheat, controls, piping specialties, air separators, an exhaust fan, and associated electrical service; modifying the building management system; replacing disturbed ceilings; providing hallway lighting and electrical updates; and removing the existing heat recovery unit serving the locker rooms. The contractor must coordinate phased construction in an occupied facility, maintain building functionality and conditioning, perform demolition and hazardous-material coordination, and provide commissioning, testing and balancing, water treatment, permits, and closeout documentation. The estimated construction cost is $2,800,000. A mandatory pre-proposal meeting and site visit is required for prime contractors. The management plan and statement of qualifications are due October 19, 2026; cost proposals, bid bond, and value-engineering proposals are due November 6, 2026.
