DPS RFP# 179-2627-740-BOIL_REP_NMS_SHS ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS Durham Public Schools, Durham Sealed bids from licensed contractors will be received by Durham Public Schools (DPS) in Durham, NC on Tuesday, October 13 2026 for furnishing of labor, materials, and equipment for the Southern High School and Neal Middle School Boiler Replacements. Project locations at Southern High School, 800 Clayton Road, Durham, NC 27703 and Neal Middle School, 201 Baptist Road, Durham, NC 27704. Bids will be received up to 1:00 PM on October 13, 2026 from Single Prime bidders at which time and place all bids will be publicly opened and read aloud. Deliver bids to: Durham Public Schools, Purchasing Dept Attn: Amy Morris, 511 Cleveland Street, Durham, NC 27701. No bid may be withdrawn after the scheduled closing time for the receipt of bids for a period of sixty (60) days. Bid security required is 5% of the bid in cash, certified check, or Bid Bond. Performance and Payment Bonds for 100% of the contract amount will be required. DPS reserves the right to reject any and all bids and to waive informalities or irregularities. Project scope: Replace existing boilers, pumps, and associated accessories. Provide power to new equipment. Pre-Bid Conference: Scheduled for September 16, 2026, 10:00 AM, Neal Middle School, 201 Baptist Road, Durham, NC 27704. Inspection of the site shall be scheduled immediately after the Pre-Bid Conference. It is MANDATORY that prime bidders attend the entire Pre-Bid Conference and visit the sites prior to bidding. Description

Durham Public Schools is soliciting proposals for boiler replacement work at Southern High School and Neal Middle School. The scope includes removing existing boilers, pumps, vent pipes, accessories, and associated circuits; furnishing and installing new condensing natural-gas boilers, pumps, piping, vents, insulation, controls, gas monitoring systems, and accessories; and interfacing the new systems with the existing building automation and fire-alarm systems. Electrical work includes replacing a two-section panelboard, extending and reconnecting feeders and pump circuits, and providing new boiler, pump, controls, and gas-monitoring circuits. Contractors must also perform startup, testing, balancing, and commissioning and submit a construction sequence intended to minimize disruption to building services. The initial contract term is one year from the effective date, with up to two additional one-year renewal terms. Proposals must include a cover letter, title page, completed and signed execution pages, required addenda acknowledgments, pricing information, a completed Certification of Financial Condition, and at least three similar-project references. A 5% bid security is required; the successful contractor must provide 100% performance and payment bonds. Required insurance includes workers' compensation and employer's liability, commercial general liability, and automobile liability coverage.
