Description
The City of Durham Transportation Department is requesting bids for access management and traffic signal modifications at the intersection of North Roxboro Street and Avondale Drive. The work includes modifying existing vehicle signal heads; furnishing and installing pedestrian signal heads with countdowns, accessible pedestrian signal detector stations, a central control unit, an LED blankout sign, signal cable, conduit, junction boxes, inductive loops, signal posts, and signal signs; and relocating an existing sign. Additional construction includes removing and installing monolithic concrete islands, constructing and replacing curb ramps, reconstructing concrete sidewalk, milling and resurfacing pavement, installing curb and gutter, pavement markings, signage, traffic-control devices, and erosion-control measures. The contractor must provide labor, materials, equipment, utility coordination, permits, and traffic control. Bidders must be prequalified with the North Carolina Department of Transportation for the applicable discipline, hold the proper electrical contractor license for traffic signal work, and have personnel with required traffic signal and work-zone safety qualifications. The contract has a 150-calendar-day completion period after the Notice to Proceed, with liquidated damages of $600 per calendar day for late completion.
