Description
The City of Durham Transportation Department is soliciting a contractor to fabricate, construct, and install a custom downtown wayfinding system. The work includes vehicular and pedestrian directional signs, parking signs, associated poles, brackets, foundations, footings, hardware, engineering, traffic control, utility coordination, site restoration, and removal of existing signs. The project is federally funded and requires compliance with NCDOT prequalification requirements before bid submission, Buy America requirements for steel and aluminum, and applicable fabrication, welding, coating, and Materials & Testing certifications before manufacturing. The prime contractor must perform at least 40% of the work, excluding designated specialty items. The project cost estimate is over $500,000, the forecasted notice to proceed is January 2027, and the bid price must include sales tax without escalation for sign materials. City road-closure permits are to be obtained by the contractor.
