Description
The City of Durham is requesting qualifications from engineering firms to provide pavement field investigations, identify pavement defects and road characteristics, document curb-ramp conditions, take road cores, recommend treatment types, and assist with programming future paving projects. The selected consultant will also support resident and neighborhood communications, develop project maps and specifications, and coordinate public information activities. The scope includes inspection of microsurfacing, cape seal, crack seal, resurfacing, pavement repairs, milling, utility adjustments, striping, detection loops, traffic control, and other pavement-preservation work. Services include daily reports, weekly progress reports, quantity and cost updates, punch-list inspections, verification of asphalt temperature and thickness, review of contractor records in the City's PDRX software, and attendance at contractor meetings. A NCDOT-certified paving inspector is required, and inspectors must be present while paving work is underway, including possible evening and Saturday work. The initial contract term is two years or until funds are exhausted, with an option to renew; no performance or payment bond is required.
