Description
The City of Providence Department of Parks is soliciting a contractor to control invasive aquatic weeds and algae in eight lakes at Roger Williams Park: Japanese Gardens, Roosevelt Lake, Willow Lake, Pleasure Lake, Cunliff Lake, Polo Lake, Edgewood Lake, and Elm Lake. The scope includes treatment of Curly Leaf Pondweed, waterweed, fanwort, filamentous and microscopic algae, lily pads, other invasive weed species, and cyanobacteria. The contractor must use the specified aquatic treatment products, coordinate treatment scheduling with the Parks Department, treat all lakes on the same day, obtain required permits and postings, and perform follow-up treatment at no additional cost if specified control results are not achieved. The base contract covers one year of treatment, with optional one-year extensions for fiscal years 2028 and 2029. Bidders must provide individual lake pricing, total pricing, unit prices, and pricing that includes a $10,000 allowance for cyanobacteria treatment and related water-quality work. The bid package must include the required City bid forms, MBE/WBE participation forms or a waiver request when applicable, and a formal proposal with pricing and service details. Qualifications include at least three similar projects completed within the past five years; proof of insurance, licenses, and other supplemental materials are requested only after award.
