Description
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service seeks a contractor to redesign, fabricate, and install interpretive exhibits in the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center Exhibit Hall. The work covers the Fire Ecology and Forest Succession, Water, and Peatlands zones and includes updated graphic panels, mechanical and tactile interactives, accessibility features, exhibit lighting, cabinetry and mounting structures, fabrication, transportation, on-site installation, staff training, and operations and maintenance documentation. Required concepts include a fire-triangle interactive, a forest-succession and wildlife interactive with mechanical light correlation, a redesigned water-cycle interactive, a beaver dam-building activity, integration of the existing peat soil-core specimen, and a proposed Fire Ecology anchoring specimen. The exhibits must support group use, minimize maintenance, coordinate with the existing exhibit hall, and provide a minimum 10-year service life. The notional budget is approximately $75,000 to $100,000, and award will be based on a trade-off evaluation considering price, technical approach, timeframes, design style, capability, and past performance.
