Description
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Centers for Animal Health is soliciting a firm-fixed-price construction contractor for Building 174. The work includes removing and replacing the existing four-ton rooftop unit and concrete equipment pad; installing a new rooftop unit on a 24-inch metal curb; replacing associated ductwork, electrical connections, controls, and return-air components; and integrating Johnson Controls monitoring and BACnet controls. The contractor must also convert the building from liquid propane to natural gas. The scope includes removing propane lines, regulators, and one existing radiant heater; installing four gas-fired radiant tube heaters and one hanging gas-fired heater; installing approximately 67 feet of two-inch HDPE gas piping, valves, valve boxes, an anodeless riser, regulators, a diaphragm gas meter with pulse output, and related controls; installing transfer door grilles and a wall-mounted return-air grille; performing hydro-vac excavation, leak testing, disposal, construction safety planning, and required product and material submittals. Work will occur in an operational cattle research facility and must comply with applicable construction, safety, security, and animal-area decontamination requirements.
