Description
The Jersey City Redevelopment Agency seeks a contractor to perform short-term stabilization of the historic Hudson and Manhattan Powerhouse. The work includes controlled hand demolition of the upper East Tower; construction of a new steel-framed hip roof with standing-seam metal roofing; installation of threaded-rod tower tie-backs and debris-containment netting; masonry and terra cotta restoration, including brick replacement, repointing, helical anchorage, cleaning, concrete repair, and coping-stone inspection; and site protection, temporary facilities, salvage, and legal debris disposal. The contractor must furnish and operate a remote building-monitoring system covering optical, vibration, crack/displacement, and weather monitoring, with baseline readings before demolition, threshold alarms, reporting, dashboard access, and a one-year initial monitoring term with two optional one-year renewals. Bidders must be prequalified under New Jersey DPMC C024 Historical Restoration classification and attend the mandatory pre-bid conference/site tour. The work must be completed within 365 calendar days of the effective date of the agreement, and the project requires a bid security, consent of surety, performance bond, labor and material bond, and maintenance bond.
