Description
The New York City Department of Correction seeks a certified Minority- or Woman-Owned Business Enterprise (M/WBE) to provide a comprehensive workforce-development and food-service program. The scope includes hands-on barista training delivered by six facilitators at six facilities, with instruction in beverage preparation, equipment operation, workplace safety, sanitation, basic maintenance, customer service, and cafe operations. The program is expected to provide 5,040 facilitator hours over 35 weeks, with sessions held four days per week. The vendor must also provide Food Handler Certification classes across seven Rikers Island facilities, with up to 70 two-day classes, and coordinate with the NYC Health Academy or another approved provider. In addition, the vendor must perform two deep-cleaning and preventive-maintenance visits at each of six facilities for espresso machines and coffee grinders, including descaling, inspection, sanitation, component cleaning, gasket replacement when needed, and service documentation. The estimated contract amount is $894,000, with a maximum contract amount of $1,500,000. The vendor must have at least eight years of relevant experience, experience serving justice-involved populations, qualified facilitators, and the ability to comply with facility security, background-clearance, orientation, and access requirements.
