Description
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is soliciting bids for mechanical harvesting and removal of nuisance aquatic and wetland vegetation, associated roots, organic material, and detrital material from approximately 15 acres in the southern area of Big Grassy Island on Lake Tohopekaliga in Osceola County. The work includes removing specified vegetation to mineralized soil, avoiding beneficial plant species where possible, transporting the harvested material by barges or other floating conveyance, and depositing it on designated in-lake disposal islands. The contractor must provide the necessary aquatic harvesting and support equipment, prepare and contour the disposal islands, control and monitor turbidity, maintain required records, and complete all work by December 10, 2026. Bidders must have completed at least three similar projects and provide references. Subcontracting is permitted with prior approval, and the estimated project budget is $200,000.
