Description
The California Department of Transportation is soliciting bids for on-call hazardous waste services across its District 2 maintenance facilities and rights-of-way in Siskiyou, Modoc, Plumas, Tehama, Lassen, Trinity, Shasta, and Butte Counties. The contractor must provide hazardous waste assessment, sampling, characterization, laboratory testing, packaging, labeling, manifesting, pickup, transportation, legal disposal or recycling, roadside biohazard cleanup, guidance, and related reporting. The scope includes biological, environmentally regulated, universal, laboratory-packed, petroleum-based, chemical, medical, battery, lighting, electronic, and other hazardous waste streams, along with delivery of compliant waste containers and related equipment. Bidders must maintain extensive federal and California licenses, registrations, permits, and certifications, including a Class A General Engineering license, HAZ certification, hazardous-material transportation credentials, hazardous-waste transporter registrations, a Motor Carrier Permit, and applicable laboratory certifications. Subcontracting is permitted only for ELAP-certified laboratory testing. The agreement is estimated to run from December 1, 2026, through November 30, 2029, subject to approval and notice to proceed.
