Description
The Bridge Pilot is a two-year, $3 million initiative funded by AmeriHealth Caritas North Carolina and implemented by the North Carolina Community Colleges Foundation in partnership with the North Carolina Community College System Office. Three North Carolina community colleges will each receive $756,667 to implement a student-focused healthcare workforce model serving up to approximately 1,000 students statewide. The pilot supports eligible short-term Continuing Education healthcare pathways, including behavioral health technician, cardiovascular technician/monitoring, direct support professional, emergency medical technician, home health aide, medical assistant, medication aide, community health worker, nurse aide, patient care technician, pharmacy technician, and phlebotomy technician programs. Funding is intended for targeted student financial assistance, proactive success coaching, pathway navigation, employer connections, and institutional capacity—not creation of the underlying instructional capacity. Applicants must describe community and workforce need, program delivery, recruitment, structured pathways, implementation readiness, use of funds, outcomes, sustainability, and replication. Applications are submitted electronically by November 18, 2026, at 11:59 p.m.; selected colleges will be notified December 16, 2026.
