Description
The USDA Germplasm Enhancement of Maize Project requires genotyping of tropical-derived GEM corn lines using probe-in-solution targeted sequencing. The contractor must chip corn kernels, extract and quality-control DNA, prepare sequencing libraries, perform high-quality sequencing, and conduct sequence quality control and trimming. The work requires validated marker panels targeting approximately 45,000 SNPs and a 10,000-SNP subset, with markers distributed across all 10 corn chromosomes and consistent with prior GEM datasets. The contractor must provide comprehensive bioinformatics analysis, including comparative reference-sequence analysis, sequencing-depth and coverage statistics, and detection and annotation of SNPs, indels, and STRs/SSRs. USDA will furnish the corn seed, and the work must be completed within 180 days of receipt.
