Description
Polk County is soliciting proposals for a cattle grazing lease to support stewardship and maintenance of the Friedlander Property. The selected lessee will use domestic cattle to manage approximately 404 acres of pasture and native range while preserving wildlife movement and generating revenue for County environmental-land management. Responsibilities include grazing and stocking-rate management, pasture mowing, fence and gate maintenance, invasive exotic plant removal through mechanical and approved herbicide treatment, biweekly perimeter inspections, emergency response, and compliance with Florida agricultural best-management practices. The lease has an initial five-year term with two optional five-year extensions. Proposals are evaluated on experience and expertise, experience operating cattle on government-owned property open to the public, certifications, and past-performance surveys. The proposal must be organized into five tabs covering the firm's introduction, experience and key-personnel resumes, public-agency grazing-lease experience and emergency communications plan, applicable certifications, and completed past-performance surveys. A mandatory pre-proposal meeting and site visit is required, and proposals may be submitted either as a sealed parcel or electronically through the County's Kiteworks process.
