Description
Riverside County seeks a contractor to provide forensic pathologist services for deaths requiring independent investigation under AB 1108. The estimated volume is 35–40 cases per year. Services include complete external and internal autopsies, including brain examination and neck dissection; consultation when requested; specimen collection and laboratory coordination; and preliminary, final, and weekly administrative reports. Preliminary reports are due within five business days after an autopsy, and final reports within 30 calendar days, subject to the stated exception for additional testing. Work is to be performed at the County’s forensic centers in Perris and Indio. The contractor must provide a licensed physician and surgeon specializing in pathology, maintain a California medical license, and submit a forensic pathologist profile, qualifications, credentials, and pricing. The initial performance period may be six months or one year, with an option to renew for up to five additional years in consecutive one-year increments. The solicitation states that the contractor may not handle other autopsies for the County during the contract term for AB 1108 cases.
