Western Municipal Water District is soliciting bids for the Recycled Water Pond Erosion Prevention Project at its Recycling Facility (WWRF) located at 22751 Nandina Ave., March Air Reserve Base, California. The project aims to permanently repair the deteriorating slopes of the 35-million-gallon recycled water (RW) storage pond and prevent future erosion. The work will be performed in two phases: Phase 1 addresses slope improvements near the secondary effluent equalization basin, covering approximately 30,000 square feet, and Phase 2 repairs the remaining slopes, covering approximately 58,000 square feet, along the railroad corridor. The selected method is Alternative 3 - Riprap, which involves placing large, angular, non-toxic stones on the slopes to provide durable, low-maintenance erosion protection with an estimated design life of 70-100 years. The project will include limited earthwork, over-excavation, and regrading to a maximum gradient of 2H:1V, with backfill using engineered fill. All work will occur within the existing pond footprint and previously disturbed areas, with no expansion of capacity or change in use. The contractor must perform the work without interrupting the operation of the RW Storage Pond to minimize disruptions to pond storage, facility operation, and recycled water distribution to customers.
