Description
The First 5 Sacramento Commission seeks an experienced organization to provide breastfeeding support services, including education, support, and one-to-one consultation. The program is intended to help new parents initiate and continue exclusive breastfeeding for at least six months, preferably up to one year, and to reduce racial disparities in breastfeeding rates. Applicants must have at least five years of experience providing breastfeeding support services in Sacramento County and incorporate International Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLCs) in advanced levels of care. Minimum services, experience, and staffing requirements are detailed in the attached specifications sheet. Up to $600,000 is available for the identified term of July 1, 2027, through June 30, 2030. Public, private, nonprofit, governmental, and faith-based organizations located in or currently serving Sacramento County may apply, individually or as a consortium. Partnerships and subcontracts are allowed, but applicants may not receive the funds and then re-grant them to other entities to provide the services. This is a Determination of Interest; if multiple organizations qualify, only successful respondents will be eligible for a subsequent RFP.
