Description

Iredell County is seeking a single-prime general contractor for site work and construction of an approximately 4,300-square-foot, one-story addition to the existing Animal Shelter. The work includes site clearing and preparation, paving, fencing, animal housing for dogs, cats, and exotic animals, a reception and adoption area, outdoor kennels, and all associated mechanical, plumbing, electrical, structural, architectural, roofing, flooring, kennel, cage, gate, synthetic turf, and building systems required for a complete and operational facility. The building is classified as Type VB (5B) construction, and the project also includes widening the existing access drive for fire access and related site improvements. The existing shelter will remain operational throughout construction. The contractor must coordinate with the Owner and implement a comprehensive site safety and phasing plan addressing access and egress, separation from shelter operations, protection of staff, visitors, animals, and workers, utility continuity, noise and dust control, and disruption minimization. The contractor must hold a valid North Carolina general contractor license and submit at least five relevant construction project references with locations, work summaries, contract amounts and durations, and contact information. The bid requires five-percent bid security, required certifications and affidavits, and a sealed bid package. Subcontractors must be advertised for in a local newspaper and recruited locally.
