Description
The City of Hickory is soliciting a contractor to construct approximately 1.133 miles of sidewalk along both sides of SR 1453 (12th Avenue NE/Springs Road NE), between SR 1401 (16th Street NE/Sandy Ridge Road) and McDonald Parkway NE. The work includes furnishing all required materials, labor, and equipment for grading, drainage, asphalt paving and resurfacing, concrete sidewalks and driveways, curb and gutter, curb ramps with detectable warning surfaces, traffic signals, pavement markings and markers, signing, utility construction, and related roadway improvements. The project includes relocation of water meters and fire hydrants, coordination with utility owners, erosion and sediment control for approximately 11.9 disturbed acres, traffic control and pedestrian access measures, and signal upgrades at multiple intersections. Bidders must be prequalified with the North Carolina Department of Transportation for the applicable disciplines and must comply with North Carolina contractor licensing requirements. A bid bond equal to 5 percent of the total bid is required, along with payment and performance bonds if awarded. The contract has a stated availability date of November 9, 2026, a final completion date of October 28, 2028, and an intermediate completion date of May 1, 2028 for work other than permanent vegetation establishment.
