Description
The City of Hickory is soliciting sealed bids for construction of the initial phase of Sandy Pines Park. The scope includes project management; site clearing and demolition; erosion and sedimentation control; mass and fine grading; storm drainage; water and sanitary sewer services; site electrical work; concrete and asphalt paving; sidewalks, curbs, ramps, parking, and trails; a prefabricated restroom building; playground-area preparation and underdrainage; cornhole courts; landscaping; bicycle racks, bollards, and other ancillary improvements shown in the plans. Playground equipment and surfacing, site furnishings, and park signage will be provided or installed by the Owner, with contractor coordination required. The bid requires completion of the itemized bid form and execution/non-collusion, debarment, and gift-ban certifications. A 5% bid security is required, along with 100% payment and performance bonds. Bidders must hold the appropriate North Carolina licenses and demonstrate experience on at least two similar projects completed within the last ten years. The contract provides 180 calendar days to substantial completion and an additional 210 calendar days from substantial completion to final completion; the work is subject to liquidated damages of $500 per day for delayed substantial completion and $750 per day for delayed final completion. The contractor must also provide required insurance, including general liability, automobile liability where applicable, builder’s risk, and workers’ compensation coverage.
