Description
The University of Oregon is seeking a contractor to create literacy screeners in one Alaska Native language, excluding Inupiaq, Yugtun, Tlingit, Dena'ina, and Gwich'in. Required deliverables include component-skill forms covering letter-sound correspondence, phonological awareness, and decoding; nine passages per grade for Grades 1–5; reading-comprehension measures consisting of 60 true/false statements per grade for Grades 3–5; and a teacher-friendly administration and scoring guide for the K–3 measures. The contractor must assemble and coordinate a project team and a language-advisor panel of at least five members representative of the local Alaska Native language community, including specified language, linguistics, and teaching expertise. The work also includes regular coordination with the University and language panel, attendance at the annual LSAIL Meeting and Alaska Native Language Summit, and completion within two to three years of contract execution. Proposers must describe relevant Alaska Native language curriculum or assessment experience, provide three references, submit an approach and delivery plan, identify key personnel, provide an itemized budget and total price, and address sustainability. Preferred services include listening-comprehension and morphological-awareness assessments.
