Description
The U.S. Geological Survey is seeking a contractor to perform mineralogical analyses on 150 geologic samples. The work includes sample preparation, quantitative cation exchange capacity analysis, whole-rock X-ray diffraction using full-pattern fitting, raw or XY diffraction data, and Excel-based mineral identification and abundance results. A subset of 30 samples requires specialized clay-size-fraction analysis to identify and quantify clay minerals and interstratification percentages. The contractor must provide all labor, equipment, materials, and supervision; complete the analyses within eight weeks; deliver results and raw files by email; maintain confidentiality; and reanalyze an entire batch within six weeks at no additional cost if quality-control results fail the stated acceptance criteria. The solicitation contemplates a firm-fixed-price purchase order with a period of performance from contract award through six months after award. Quotations will be evaluated on past performance, technical approach, and price, with non-price factors more important than price.
