MSAD 17 is procuring commissioning agent services for the construction of a new middle school in South Paris, Maine. The approximately 126,000-square-foot school will be built on the site of the existing middle school, with an estimated construction cost of $73 million. Construction is scheduled to begin in spring 2027, with substantial completion anticipated in summer 2029. The commissioning agent will ensure that the mechanical, electrical, plumbing, building envelope, and safety and security systems are complete and function properly at occupancy, and that the owner's staff receives adequate system documentation and training. Commissioning efforts must also satisfy current applicable energy-code requirements. Responses are qualifications-based; fees must not be included, and fees will be negotiated with the highest-qualified firm. Evaluation will consider the proposed project approach, similar commissioning experience, and staff experience. The selected firms may be invited to interview.
