Description
The Maine Department of Transportation is soliciting a contractor to remove snow, control ice, treat roads, maintain drainage, and keep approximately 4.33 centerline miles (8.66 lane miles) of U.S. Route 1 open to traffic between the Arundel/Kennebunk town line and the Arundel/Biddeford town line. The work requires anti-icing operations, calibrated material-spreading equipment, plow trucks, winter sand, salt, and liquid chlorides, with specified response, cycle-time, material-use, reporting, and equipment requirements. The initial contract term is three years, beginning October 15, 2026, or upon execution, whichever is later, and ending May 1, 2029. The Department may mutually agree with the contractor to extend the contract for up to five additional annual winter seasons. Contractors must provide required insurance certificates before award and before October 1 of each subsequent year; performance and payment bonds and a bid guarantee are not required. Bids may be submitted electronically through Bid Express if accepted by the Notice to Contractors, or by paper delivery using the specified bid package and envelope requirements.
