Description
The USDA Forest Service is soliciting quotations to convert and adapt an existing chainsaw testing room into a controlled environmental conditioning chamber. The work includes HVAC installation and adaptation, including a dedicated blower-coil with hydronic reheat coil, independent ventilation, exhaust fan, thermostat controls capable of maintaining temperatures up to 110°F, demolition and capping of existing HVAC components, integration with the existing Johnson Controls building automation system, and new electrical circuits and receptacles. The contractor must provide labor, materials, equipment, engineering, design support, installation, testing, commissioning, and documentation. The amendment extends the offer deadline to September 23, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. MDT, extends the question deadline to September 14, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. MDT, and removes the requirement for subcontractors and teaming partners to submit a response under the past-performance evaluation paragraph. The Q&A confirms that the work will be performed in Missoula, Montana; Johnson Controls is preferred but not mandatory; the existing hydronic system is expected to have adequate capacity; and additional insulation or architectural upgrades may be proposed if needed. The contract has a firm-fixed-price structure with a period of performance from October 1, 2026, through February 1, 2027.
