The California Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) has issued an Emergency Permit to Clean Harbors Environmental Services (CHES) to treat hazardous waste at Collidion, Inc. in Petaluma, California. The permit authorizes the treatment of five specific chemicals—Tetrahydrofuran, Diethyl Ether, Sodium Azide, Acrylonitrile, and Benzoyl Peroxide—through controlled chemical reactions to stabilize them prior to transport to an authorized disposal facility. The chemicals are shock-sensitive, explosive, and pose an imminent threat to human health and the environment.
