The U.S. Army Research Office (ARO), in partnership with the Laboratory for Physical Sciences (LPS), is seeking proposals for research to accelerate the US quantum computing ecosystem and advance fault-tolerant quantum computing. This special notice under the DEVCOM Army Research Laboratory Broad Agency Announcement (BAA) W911NF23S0001 focuses on three topic areas: (1) improvements to the quantum computing supply chain, including laser systems, high-density cables, optical components, and photonic integrated circuits; (2) algorithms and quantum error correction techniques, including novel algorithm discovery, resource-aware algorithm design, foundational benchmarking, and error correction code development; and (3) foundational research topics such as noise mitigation, simulation and design tools, and characterization. Proposals are invited in two categories: Accelerators (for companies with established roadmaps, up to $15M/year for up to 4 years) and Incubators (for early-stage companies, up to $8M/year for up to 2 years). Awards will be in the form of Other Transactions (OT) for Research or Prototype. White papers are due by 30 September 2026.
