Description
The City of Olathe is soliciting sealed bids for construction of a fiber optic interconnect project associated with the I-35 and Santa Fe Street interchange reconstruction. The work includes relocating and rerouting the City's fiber optic communications network; installing approximately 2,350 linear feet of bored HDPE conduit, new 288-count fiber optic cable, tracer wire, Type III and Type IV fiber optic junction boxes, splice enclosures, and related facilities; and installing approximately 520 feet of 288-count fiber optic cable within existing conduit on the 127th Street bridge. Existing fiber optic facilities must be removed, rerouted, abandoned, or spliced as shown in the plans. The contractor must provide traffic control, construction staking, restoration of disturbed surfaces, GPS documentation and GPS-enabled photographs for facilities within Kansas Department of Transportation right-of-way, and coordination with the City and KDOT. The solicitation requires a five-percent bid bond with the scanned copy submitted online and the original submitted to the engineer within 48 hours after bid opening. A performance bond and payment/statutory bond, each generally equal to the contract price, are required from the successful bidder. The contract documents state that substantial completion is required within 60 days after contract times commence and no later than May 15, 2027, with final completion within 15 additional days.
