Description
The City of New Haven Youth and Recreation Department is soliciting applications from New Haven-based nonprofit and community organizations for grants of up to $5,000 to expand team sports and prosocial activities for New Haven youth ages 5 through 17. Eligible programming may include sports instruction and introductory clinics, coaches or mentors, referees, equipment or uniforms, scholarships, and facility or field space. Programs must be offered free or at minimal cost, include a competitive component, serve youth in New Haven, and be delivered between July 1, 2026, and June 30, 2027. Fully remote programming, capital improvements, payroll, rental or lease payments, construction, and other listed ineligible uses are excluded. Applicants must provide a proposal and budget, complete the required disclosure and qualification responses, and address organizational capacity, participant reach, service to at-risk and high-risk youth, community support, and measurable outcomes. The selected grantee must maintain participant and outcome records, provide reporting, offer slots to at-risk and high-risk youth, and accommodate at least one site visit. Insurance requirements apply before award, including general liability, abuse and molestation coverage, and other specified coverages; proof of insurance is not required with the initial response unless specifically requested.
