Description
The University of Connecticut is soliciting proposals for a comprehensive Student Health Insurance Plan beginning with the 2027-28 academic year, with an initial one-year term and four additional one-year extensions. The plan must be ACA-compliant and satisfy specified federal and Connecticut coverage mandates, provide worldwide 24/7 coverage, include PPO network access, prescription drug coverage, optional spouse and dependent coverage, international-student and study-abroad repatriation and medical evacuation benefits, and short-term coverage for teaching and research assistants. Proposers must offer base and plus plan options and itemized annual and semester premiums for student, student-plus-one, and family enrollment categories. The awarded provider must administer enrollment and waivers, issue identification cards, process claims, provide online claims access and toll-free customer service, reimburse providers, maintain records, produce recurring enrollment, payment, claims, performance, and high-dollar-claim reports, and provide on-campus support at the main and regional campuses. The solicitation also permits an optional student-athlete alternative plan addressing intercollegiate sports injuries, international and domestic athletes, flexible terms, specialty-care access, medical evacuation, repatriation, travel assistance, and basic and plus plan options. Required proposal content includes organizational information, executive summary, company experience, plan design, staffing and administrative services, pricing, three comparable references, and specified certifications, affidavits, compliance forms, financial statements, specimen policy, policy exclusions, and other supporting materials.
