Description
The Office for Victims of Crime is offering funding through two categories: developing capacity to serve human trafficking victims and providing services for human trafficking victims. Eligible applicants include state, county, city or township governments, federally and non-federally recognized tribal governments, public and state-controlled institutions of higher education, public housing authorities, Indian housing authorities, and qualifying nonprofit organizations. Funded projects must serve adults or adults and minors/youth affected by sex and labor trafficking. Allowable activities may include information and referral, personal advocacy and accompaniment, crisis intervention, mental-health and substance-use services, safety planning, case management, emergency shelter or housing assistance, legal and criminal/civil justice assistance, education, job or vocational training, and skill building. Category 1 projects have a 12-month capacity-building phase followed by 24 months of service implementation; Category 2 projects must demonstrate prior experience serving trafficking victims. The program requires a 25-percent match of total project costs, privacy and confidentiality procedures, trained or licensed service personnel, and regular performance reporting. Category 1 awards may be up to $400,000 and Category 2 awards may be up to $950,000.
