Description
The City of Bend is seeking professional engineering and related design services for the Hawthorne Bridge Connections Project. The work will advance concept design through construction documents for safety, accessibility, and multimodal connectivity improvements along Hawthorne Avenue between Third and Fifth Streets and Harriman Street between Hawthorne Avenue and Franklin Avenue, connecting to the Bend Bikeway. The scope includes project management, survey, utility coordination, traffic analysis, right-of-way coordination for up to 10 affected properties, concept refinement, public outreach, 60%, 90%, and 100% plans, specifications, cost estimates, intelligent transportation systems improvements, and construction bid documents. Planned improvements include a signalized intersection at Third Street and Hawthorne Avenue, intersection crossing enhancements, and protected shared-use paths. Optional construction support services may include construction engineering, inspection, and testing coordination. The design phase budget is approximately $930,000, and the estimated construction phase budget is $6,000,000. Design services are desired for completion by late 2027, with construction anticipated to start in March 2028.
