Description
The California Education Learning Lab, in partnership with the Governor's Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz), is seeking proposals for the Quantum FAST Challenge. The program provides up to $2.7 million in total funding, with individual awards ranging from $50,000 to $500,000, for projects implemented over 18–24 months. Projects must address one of two priority areas: expanding California's quantum talent pipeline or conducting applied use-case demonstrations of quantum technologies that pair faculty researchers with industry partners. Eligible proposals may include quantum curricula, laboratory modules, workforce preparation, student experiences, and industry or nonprofit collaboration. Applicants must submit a required Statement of Intent before the full proposal. Full proposals include summary information, an eight-page maximum detailed project proposal, the Learning Lab budget template, project-team CVs, an optional logic model, and at least two letters of recommendation. Indirect cost recovery is capped at 10%; an industry match of at least 25% is encouraged but not required. Awards are expected to be announced in late November 2026, with projects commencing February 1, 2027.
