Description
The Town of Hancock seeks qualified contractors to repair and paint the steeple of the Hancock Meetinghouse, a historic building listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The work includes protecting adjacent roofs, inspecting and repairing or replacing damaged wood trim, siding, and shingles; removing loose paint; refastening woodwork; installing a new 20-gauge copper cap with soldered joints; priming and painting the woodwork; caulking cracks and joints; painting clock faces; and painting the weathervane. An alternate price is required for applying 23-karat gold leaf to the weathervane and sphere. Proposals must include company information, a detailed labor and materials cost breakdown, allowances for replacing 25 wood shingles and 100 linear feet of clapboards, the weathervane gold-leaf alternate, a project timeline, approach and installation methods, at least two similar-project references, and proof of insurance. Contractors must demonstrate experience repairing and painting similarly scaled steeples and historic buildings, comply with the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for the Treatment of Historic Buildings, obtain the building permit, and provide specified preconstruction documents, including a schedule of values, construction schedule, staff assignments, permit copy, W-9, and certificates of insurance.
