Description
This single-prime construction project will upgrade an occupied county jail through coordinated detention, architectural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, controls, security, communications, and seamless shower system work. The scope includes replacing AHUs 2, 4, 5, 7, and 8 with associated piping; converting pneumatic environmental controls to direct digital controls integrated with the jail's environmental controls system; upgrading electrical distribution and detention lighting; updating water-control systems; and updating low-voltage security and communications systems. Architectural and detention work includes reconfiguring existing cells into medical examination, mental-health treatment, counseling, and support rooms; installing detention-grade furnishings; modifying cell doors to add food ports; installing detention doors, hardware, security glazing, detention windows, toilet accessories, furniture, and security electronics; retrofitting stainless-steel shower inserts and seamless coatings; and installing anti-jump netting. The detention equipment contractor must be pre-qualified or approved by addendum, must self-perform installation, and may not use installation subcontractors. The project requires phased coordination in an operating jail, shop drawings and quality-control submittals, testing and commissioning, bonding, insurance, qualifications information, and acknowledgment of all addenda.
