The University of California, Santa Barbara is soliciting statements of qualifications from design professionals and firms with relevant experience for the El Centro Improvement and Expansion Project. The project involves assessing renovation and expansion opportunities for the El Centro Arnulfo Casillas cultural center, including a Detailed Project Program for renovation of up to approximately 5,927 GSF and 4,522 ASF in Building No. 406, possible building expansion, new offices and support spaces, community spaces, archival storage, a multimedia room, lounges, gender-neutral restrooms, outdoor-space expansion, accessibility sitework, exterior improvements, and modifications to electrical, mechanical, and fire alarm systems. The scope includes programming, stakeholder engagement, conceptual plans, cost estimating, code analysis, value engineering, project scheduling, phasing plans, and, if approved, architectural and engineering design, construction documents, environmental approval support, bidding assistance, construction-phase administrative services, and as-built documentation. Stage 1 consists of preparing the Detailed Project Program and project cost plan; Stage 2, if awarded, consists of the subsequent design and related professional services. The construction budget is listed as to be determined, and funding is not assured.
