Description
Miami University seeks a turnkey contractor to relocate the Richard and Carol Cocks Art Museum collection during a building renovation. The scope includes project planning, collection assessment, professional packing and custom crating, inventory tracking, climate-controlled transportation, secure temporary storage, return relocation, unpacking, storage placement, and gallery installation support. The inventory includes approximately 15,538 records, including paintings, sculpture, ceramics, glass, metalwork, decorative arts, furniture, textiles, works on paper, photographs, archaeological and ethnographic objects, archival collections, oversized objects, and a substantial Leica camera collection. Approximately 885 NAGPRA-related items are currently excluded from the move pending further review, and approximately 2,700 works on paper will be moved by museum staff to alternate Miami University storage. The contractor must maintain documented chain of custody, object accountability, museum-appropriate packing materials, environmental monitoring, climate-controlled transport and storage, security controls, incident reporting, and emergency procedures. Storage must maintain approximately 68–72°F and 45–55% relative humidity, with continuous monitoring, fire protection, intrusion detection, restricted access, and video surveillance. Proposals must include an executive summary, technical approach, project team information, relevant experience and at least three comparable projects completed within the past five years, a detailed project schedule, and an itemized pricing proposal. The collection's declared value is approximately $24.6 million, and the RFP requires fine arts transit and storage coverage at not less than the full declared value.
