Description

McHenry County College is seeking a contractor to design, field-verify, furnish, and install a new evaporative cooling and ventilation system in Bay 1 of the college greenhouse. The work includes removing and disposing of eight existing Dayton evaporative coolers; repairing and sealing affected greenhouse panels and openings; and installing an American Coolair closed-top evaporative cooling system, motorized rigid inlet vent, Wadsworth rack-and-pinion vent motor, two American Coolair AL-36K aluminum exhaust fans, associated framing, electrical and plumbing connections, startup, testing, and operational adjustments. Bidders must quote three separately priced parts: design and pre-construction verification, removal and disposal, and installation of the new system. The contractor must provide a proposed schedule, complete the work before June 2027, and provide at least 30 days of post-installation support and applicable warranty service. The bid package requires a cover letter, pricing sheets, a signed bid submission form, a referral/reference list with at least four comparable clients from the last three years, a certificate of insurance, a bid bond or performance bond as applicable under the solicitation, a W-9, contractor certification, and the BEP Utilization Plan with supporting documentation or good-faith-effort waiver materials. A 30% BEP participation aspirational goal applies. The solicitation contains conflicting submission instructions: one section requires one original and one copy in a sealed envelope by mail or hand delivery, while another says only electronic bids will be accepted; the detailed packaging instructions require sealed delivery to the Business Office.
