Description
The Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction is soliciting a general contractor for HVAC upgrades at Allen & Oakwood Correctional Institution. The base work includes replacing six rooftop air-handling units serving the north, south, east, and west wings; reconnecting gas service; replacing pneumatic HVAC controls with electric/electronic controls for rooftop units, VAV boxes, and combination fire/smoke dampers; installing gas water heaters and associated pumps; decommissioning existing hot-water boilers; installing four instantaneous water heaters in the powerhouse; and performing air balancing and HVAC commissioning. Alternates include replacing the gym rooftop unit with a 20-ton or 40-ton gas-heated unit, installing two mini-split systems at Allen Correctional, and cleaning existing supply and return ductwork. The project has an estimated base cost of $2,251,768, with a 5 percent EDGE participation goal, prevailing-wage and domestic-steel requirements, and a 270-consecutive-day substantial-completion period from the Notice to Proceed. Electronic bidding is required; paper bids are not accepted. A bid guaranty equal to 10 percent of the base bid plus additive alternates, or the specified combined bid guaranty and bond form, is required.
